Being Creative with Video!
We had such an exciting day with Emma from the Amma Centre creating our Titanic ‘Diodramas’!
Firstly we created shoe box dioramas of rooms aboard the Titanic.
We then created a script for our characters aboard the great ship.
We then had a day ‘on set’ and recorded our dramas.
With the help of Chromo keying, Doink Greenscreen and iMovie, we were transported aboard the Titanic and recorded our dramas inside the little rooms we created!
World Book Day
What a great day we had celebrating World Book Day in St Joseph’s!
We had a busy week making potato book characters, extreme reading, completing anagrams, taking part in book quizzes, creative writing, dressing up and of course, lots of reading!
Pancake Tuesday
Safer Internet Day
We celebrated Safer Internet Day in school today.
The Digital Leaders presented us with lots of very useful information about keeping ourselves safe online.
We joined the Dream Space team for a live event where we completed challenges through the medium of Minecraft: Education Edition and learned about digital citizenship and internet safety.
We finished off the day with a class quiz on Quiziz

REDUCE REUSE RECYCLE
Our topic this month is Reduce, Reduce, Recycle.
Emmett from Fermanagh & Omagh District Council came in to speak to us about the importance of reducing, reusing and recycling in order to protect our environment.
We were surprised to learn each of our households produces one tonne of waste each year! We are going to make a big effort in school and at home to reduce the amount of waste we produce and think of alternative, more environmentally friendly way to do things!
Dr Loftus Cup comes to St Joseph’s!
The Tyrone Masters defeated Dublin to claim their All-Ireland title in October and we were lucky to have the winning captain, player and cup visit us!
Thanks to these two local heroes, Lele and Ryan, for bring the Dr Loftus Cup to our school and for sharing your experiences and advice with us.
OUTDOOR CLASSROOM DAY
We celebrated Outdoor Classroom Day by getting outdoors to play and learn. We love spending time outdoors and learning is more fun!
For our Art Lesson today, we gathered lots of natural materials and worked in our groups to create beautiful pieces of art. We formed houses, faces, figures and a coastal scene! Some were even 3D! Check out our photos below!
PSNI Talk - Staying Safe Online
Rachel from the PSNI visited our school to talk about the importance of staying safe online.
She gave us these four helpful reminders while using the internet:
People are not always who they say they are, so be careful.
Do not share personal information. Never use your real name or give details of your address, date of birth or school you attend.
Always be nice to people - whether you’re on or offline!
Listen to yourself - if you think there’s something wrong, then tell an adult about how you feel.
MATHS WEEK
We love to play games as part of our Numeracy lessons. This week, to celebrate maths week, we played lots of games and we particularly enjoyed the challenging Multiplication Jigsaw!
HALLOWEEN FUN!
Tom Sweeney entertains all at St Joseph’s!
What a fun morning we had singing along and listening to the tales of Tom Sweeney!
A morning to remember for sure!
Sam Maguire visits St Joseph’s!
We were delighted to welcome some very special visitors to our school on Friday!
Niall Sludden and Peter Teague brought Sam Maguire and the Anglo Celt Cup for us all to see. Such excitement! The photos say it all!
Well done to these Mathletes!
PDMU
As part of our Learning Living Together PDMU programme we are looking at identifying what is important to us. We had great fun playing ‘What’s it Worth?’ at our Aspiration Auction. Being safe, healthy, having a happy family life and working with animals were up there with the highest bids, proving very valuable to us!
