Welcome to Primary 1

Miss Devenney, Caroline and Mary.

☘ St Patrick’s Day ☘

Green, green and more green! We’ve been learning lots about St Patrick and how he came to Ireland and taught all the Irish people about God using a shamrock. We also enjoyed a wonderful assembly from P3 and some Irish Dancing!

St Brigid’s Day

We have been learning all about St Brigid and how she used rushes to make crosses while teaching people about God. Fr Canning blessed our rushes at mass and we made our very own. Thank you to all the boys and girls (and their parents of course) who brought in the rushes from home. We hope you have your St Brigid’s cross up at home.

Brrr It's Freezing!

Brrr It's Freezing! 🥶⛄❄

Our topic over the last few weeks has been all about exploring cold places and the people and animals that live there. We have been experimenting with snow and Miss Devenney even made us our very on magic snow! We have also been learning what melts ice and figuring out if water or salt is better at helping us rescue the animals that have been frozen into out icebergs!

Happy New Year

We are back to school with a bang welcoming in 2024 with lots of fun in Primary 1.

🍂All Things Autumn🍂

Our Autumn term has been full of discovery and wonder - we have explored our surroundings and discovered lots about how Autumn brings about new changes. We have also incorporated a lot of autumnal objects into our learning. Have a look at our different Autumn adventures below.

Happy Halloween

🎃🎇🎃

Happy Halloween 🎃🎇🎃

Between carving pumpkins, making potions, fancy dress and chocolate apples, it is safe to say that our first Halloween at St Joseph’s was full of fun! Check out what we got up to below.

Just a little snippet of some of the activities we have completed in our first week in Primary 1. The children have settled into life at St Joseph’s very well and are already proving themselves to be an incredibly kind and clever bunch! We are all looking forward to a busy week next week when we begin our longer days - hometime will be 2pm so we will have 1 more hour for fun!

Number Treasure Hunt

Number Treasure Hunt 🔎👀🔍

On Wednesday morning, Miss Devenney hid lots of numicon pieces outside in the playground. The children showed off their hunting skills and their numeracy skills by finding every piece and sorting them into the correct boxes. The children were able to describe the colours of the different pieces and also managed to order the number line when we got it all mixed up.

What a very clever bunch we have in P1!

✏🎈🍏 WELCOME PRIMARY 1 PUPILS 🍏🎈✏ 😀

We were very pleased to welcome our brand new P.1 pupils to St Joseph’s Primary School this morning!

The children had lots of fun socialising with their friends after a long summer and enjoyed exploring their new classroom and outdoor play area.

We can’t wait to get back again on Monday!
