Minecraft with DreamSpace Ireland-the future is MINE

We are excited to be beginning this journey with Microsoft Ireland. We will be learning all about Minecraft and we will set off on our adventures with simple design tasks.

There is a competition too at the end- so keep your eyes peeled to see how we are getting on!

How to do a…..

Our Writing genre this half term is ‘Instructional Writing.

We have been going through the six steps to help us write a top quality piece.

We even used it in real life, when we linked it to our P.E. and wrote a list of instructions on how to do a

  • cartwheel

  • handstand

  • backward bridge

  • even a sequence of movements.

Traders and Invaders

We have been learning all about the Vikings with Mrs. Mullan through an enquiry based approach. We want to get to know the Vikings in their true sense- as skilled traders and raiders. We made our own Viking shields…. just in case!

Care for our Common Home- Laudete Si

This month, Pope Francis called us to recognise the wonder of the magnificent world that God has created- the people, animals, plants, the solar system etc. We watched this short video- which explained it in child friendly terms and we worked hard to create a beautiful display in our classroom that reflects all that is good about our world.

Perfect place value

We’ve been revising place value, using Base 10 and ourselves. We’ve made numbers by placing ourselves in the correct positions on our ‘abacus’ in the playground. Great fun for all!

Na, na, na Tyrone, Na, na, na Tyrone, Na, na, na!

On Friday 10th September, we dressed in red and white to support our county footballers as they travelled to Croke Park to take on Mayo. We had a super day, dining in Dooher’s diner, eating gorgeous cupcakes handmade by Lorraine and practising some active punctuation to our winning sentences!

This is our year to SHINE!

We have thought carefully about what we want to achieve this year and have displayed it beautifully in our class to remind us all year through.

We won’t be shy, we’ll give it a try and we’ll remember the words of our class anthem as we “try everything.”

We are back….

We’ve been settling in, taking our time to become familiar with our friends and enjoying time outdoors.
